The Sarajevo Haggadah

After the expulsion of the Jews from Spain in 1492, many found refuge in the Ottoman Empire. A significant community grew up in Sarajevo, bringing with them what came to be the city’s most famous (and mythic) cultural artefact, the 14th century manuscript known as the Sarajevo Haggadah. The following links introduce you to the history and many stories surrounding the Sarajevo Haggadah and its post-war conservation and display at the Zemaljski Muzej
