The Bašagic Collection of Bosnian Islamic Manuscripts
This important collection of manuscripts by Bosnian Muslim writers was entered on the UNESCO Memory of the World Register of the world's most important archives of documentary material. The collection which was part of the library of the renowned Bosnian scholar, Dr. Safvet beg Bašagic,is an outstanding and comprehensive documentation of Bosnia's written literature in the 16th-19th centuries and a unique evidence of the literary (prose, poetry) and scientific (Islamic theology, law, history, philosophy, Koranic sciences, traditions, Islamic mysticism activities of Bosnian Muslim scholars writing in Arabic, Turkish and Persian languages and reaches world-wide importance. The collection has been part of the University of Bratislava, Slovakia's library since 1924.
