Historical Heritage as a Determining Factor of Democratic Transition in Serbia

Dr Popovic-Obradovic is a professor of national history in the law faculty of the University of Belgrade, who has written widely on the problems of modernization of Serbian political life since the late nineteenth century. In 1999-2000 she lectured(in English) at the Central European University in Budapest on 'Historical Heritage as a Determining Factor of Democratic Transition in Serbia', the topic of the illuminating introduction she contributed to one of the most stimulating recent Bosnian Institute forums. One of a group of talented younger historians influenced by the work of Latinka Perovic, she is a regular contributor to Helsinska Povelja, the monthly journal of the Helsinki Committee for Human Rights in Serbia.
