DALIBOR NIKOLIC
Dalibor Nikolic was born in Mostar in 1974, and is one of the most prolific artists in the city. He is best known for a series of fantastic metal sculptures made from aluminium sheets found by the river Neretva under the ruins of the Old Bridge in Mostar. Illuminated with candles they provide a breathtaking sight. Smaller sculptural works in silicon, paper and metal exemplify the position of the artist in society; isolated yet bound up in it.

Towards the end of the war Dalibor started creating a vast cartoon story dealing with the aftermath of the fighting, the nature of evil and ways that a better society could be created. Although at times it does not shrink from the brutality of war, the story is ultimately positive. The entire cycle will be brought to the Festival and displayed as a slide installation at Riverside Studios. Dalibor will work during the Festival with young London Bosnians to create their own cartoons and comics based on their lives and the experience of the city.
