Music in particular reflects Bosnia's diversity of peoples and long cultural tradition. Sarajevo remains perhaps the most important music centre in the region. Even the recent war never stopped Bosnians from creating music or welcoming frequent international enthusiasts. Whether rock, pop, electronical or traditional sevdalinka, music remains one of the most common ways for Bosnians to express their passionate nature.
Sarajevo is regaining its respected status as musicians from neighbouring countries and the world visit once again with increasing regularity. U2's famous 1997 concert in Sarajevo almost triumphantly marked the end of the war and reopened the city's doors. |
