The b iggest mistake
by Nijaz Durakovic

‘The biggest mistake was made immediately after the Constitutional Court ruling was delivered, because the present governing bloc allowed polemics and a political discussion about it to start up, which was juridically absurd. A Constitutional Court ruling is either implemented or not implemented - there is nothing to discuss, no place for political bargains or haggling. I think it was necessary to insist with the international community too that the ruling simply be implemented, and that it be binding, as the Constitution stipulates.’

Nijaz Durakovic, founder and first leader of the B-H Social Democrat Party (SDP), interviewed by Senad Pecanin in Dani (Sarajevo), 12 April 2002
